Millions of users from many countries including India, America, Canada, Britain, Brazil and Germany are facing problems in watching, uploading or searching videos. Users are seeing the error message ‘Something went wrong’ on the screen. This is affecting the daily routine of the users. According to outage tracking website DownDetector, more than 2 lakh reports have come in America alone, while globally this number has reached above 10 lakh.
What happened to YouTube?
The first complaint of trouble on YouTube was made on February 17, US time. American users reported first. In India, as soon as people woke up on the morning of 18th February, YouTube was down. Users first noticed the problem on the mobile app and website. Many people were not able to load the homepage and shorts or live streaming came to a complete halt. In India, most reports of disturbances came from big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Users say that when they try to play a video, an error occurs or the app crashes.
