Players of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad are wearing black armbands in their season-opening match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
The two teams are wearing black armbands in memory of the 11 fans who died in a tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s title celebrations last year.
The team also warmed with jerseys sporting the number 11 ahead of the match, while 11 seats in the stadium have been permanently reserved in their honour. Additionally, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) also unveiled a memorial at the stadium.
The two teams also held a minute’s silence before the match to pay respect to the fans who lost their lives.
