IPL 2026: Players, officials observe a minute’s silence ahead of RCB vs SRH season opener

The players, match officials and fans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium observed a minute’s silence in memory of seven fans who lost their lives in the stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title celebrations last year.

The host and Sunrisers Hyderabad also wore black arm bands to pay tribute to the deceased.

The team also warmed up with jerseys sporting the number 11 ahead of the match, while 11 seats in the stadium have been permanently reserved in their honour.

Additionally, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) also unveiled a memorial at the stadium.
