VIDEO | Patidar in awe of Kohli’s brilliance, calls him ‘number one chase master’

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar lavished praise on Virat Kohli after his match-winning knock in the IPL 2026 opener, calling him a “number one chase master”.

Kohli’s unbeaten half-century anchored RCB’s comfortable six-wicket chase, drawing admiration from his skipper, who said the veteran continues to set the benchmark.

“He is a number one chase master… I have no words to describe his innings, the way he played, the shots he executed and how he handled the situation — it was really good to see.” Patidar said

Patidar also underlined Kohli’s influence beyond the match, pointing to his intensity in training sessions. “The way I saw him in the nets — the same energy, the same eagerness to perform and dominate the game — it’s really beautiful,” he noted.

Calling Kohli his idol, Patidar said he is constantly learning by observing the senior batter closely. “I am learning a lot of things just by watching him in the nets and in matches,” he added.

The RCB skipper also credited the batting unit for executing the chase to perfection. “Credit goes to all the batsmen… the way they displayed their skill was outstanding,” he said.
