Why is Shubman Gill not playing in GT vs RR IPL 2026 match today?

Shubman Gill missed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

Rashid Khan was named the captain of the Titans.

At the toss, Rashid said that Gill was suffering with a muscle spasm and wasn’t available for the game.

“Gill has a muscle spasm; hopefully, he will be back soon,” the GT captain said at the toss, adding that Kumar Kushagra will replace Gill in the playing XI.

Royals captain Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bat. “We are going to be batting first. We got to assess and adapt to different conditions. Hopefully we will put up a good score around 210 and defend it later on. I want it to be a team that plays in all conditions,” Parag said.

Titans lost their season opener against Punjab Kings and are looking to open their account this season.
