Security Update! New feature of Gmail will change the way of sending emailsZoom

Now every email will be private, new update of Gmail

Google has released a major security update for its email platform Gmail. Now Gmail’s end-to-end encryption (E2EE) feature will also be available on Android and iOS devices. After this update, users will be able to send, read and manage encrypted emails directly from their mobile app. Earlier, this kind of facility required desktop or third-party tools.

How does this feature work? This new feature of Gmail is based on Client-Side Encryption (CSE). This means that the email is encrypted on the user’s device even before it is sent.

While sending an email, the user simply has to tap on the lock icon and select the ‘Additional Encryption’ option. After this the message will be sent securely and encrypted.

If the receiver also uses Gmail, this email will appear as a normal thread. At the same time, users who do not use Gmail will be able to access it securely through a web browser and will also be able to reply.

Available for which users?

  • This feature is currently available for Google Workspace Enterprise users.
  • Admin has to activate it from Admin Console
  • Support will be available on both Android and iOS platforms
  • The rollout has started in both rapid release and scheduled release.

What will change for users?

  1. After this update, users will be able to access their sensitive emails securely from anywhere.
  2. Now dependence on desktop is over
  3. No need for third-party tools
  4. Data will remain completely encrypted
  5. The encryption keys will remain with the organization only.

Why is it special for business?

  • This feature is especially useful for companies that work with sensitive data.
  • This will help them maintain data security, privacy and compliance.
  • This new update of Gmail makes secure emailing easier for mobile users. Now without any additional setup, users can send completely secure emails right from their smartphones.
