Does the child use mobile phone a lot? How to set App Limit in Android and iPhone

In today’s time, children’s connection with mobile phones and screens is increasing very rapidly. Due to online classes, YouTube videos, games and social media, children have started spending hours on phones or tablets. In such a situation, it has become very important for parents to control the screen time of children. Excessive screen time can have a negative impact on children’s eyesight, sleep, studies and mental health.

If you also want to limit your children’s mobile usage habit, then there are easy methods available in both Android and iPhone. With their help you can put a time limit on any app.

To set screen time in Android phone

  1. First of all go to the settings of the phone. There you will find the option of “Apps” or “Digital Wellbeing”.
  2. After this click on Screen Time or App Activity.
  3. Here you will see the list of all the apps. There will be an hourglass-like icon in front of every app. By clicking on it you can set a time limit for that app.
  4. For example, if the child watches YouTube a lot, you can impose a limit of 1 hour. The app will automatically close when the time is up.

The same facility is available in iPhone also.

  1. For this, go to Settings and click on “Screen Time”.
  2. Then go to App & Website Activity. If there is no passcode, set it first.
  3. After this tap on “Add Limit” and select the app on which limit is to be imposed.
  4. Then set the time by pressing “Next”. After the completion of the stipulated time, the child will not be able to use that app easily.

If setting different timers on multiple apps seems difficult, you can also download parental control controls or lock screen apps from the Play Store or App Store.

These apps help in limiting the usage of the entire phone.

Just relying on technology is not enough. Parents themselves should use less mobile phones in front of their children and encourage them for outdoor games, reading books and other activities.
