Bajaj has given a big surprise by launching Pulsar NS400Z with a new 349cc engine. Now this bike has become cheaper by ₹ 24,500, while there has not been much compromise in power and features. Will these updates make it the most value for money bike in the 300-400cc segment? Know the new price, performance, features and the complete strategy behind this change.

Pulsar NS400Z has been made cheaper.
Bajaj Auto has updated its popular naked streetfighter bike Pulsar NS400Z and reduced its engine from 373 cc to 349.13 cc. The new 349 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 40.6 PS of power at 9000 rpm and 33.2 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm. The company claims that the power-to-weight ratio is now 247 PS per tonne, which still keeps the bike sporty and fun.
The biggest benefit of this change has been found in the price. The price of new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has been kept at ₹ 1,80,092 at Delhi ex-showroom. There is a total saving of up to ₹ 24,500 compared to the old 373cc model. This saving is not only due to lower ex-showroom price, but also due to falling in 18% GST slab, reduced insurance and registration expenses. Earlier this bike was priced around ₹ 1.94 lakh. Let us look at other details also.
Design and Specifications
No major changes have been made in the design and hardware. The new NS400Z retains the aggressive styling, sharp looks and strong DNA of the NS series. It has modern features like 4 riding modes, quickshifter, traction control, dual-channel ABS and instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The suspension, brakes and radial tires also support performance and handling.
Why lightened the engine?
This update is part of Bajaj’s strategy to provide tax benefits by bringing many models (including Dominar 400) into the sub-350cc category. Despite the slight decrease in performance, the refinement of the bike is expected to be good in both daily use and on the highway. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is completed in around 6.4 seconds, while the top speed is around 150 km/h.
Better for whom?
The new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z remains an attractive option for young riders who want strong performance, modern features and now even better value. The bikes have started reaching showrooms. If you are looking for a sporty and feature-loaded bike in the 300-400cc segment, then the new NS400Z can provide a lot of relief to your budget.
What did the company say?
Sarang Kanade, President, Motorcycle Business Unit, Bajaj, said that Pulsar NS has always been a symbol of accessible performance and bold riding experience. With the new 349cc Pulsar NS400Z, we are taking a big step towards making high-performance motorcycling accessible to more people. The benefits of low GST and low ownership costs are being passed on to customers, making the thrilling NS experience now available with a more attractive value proposition.
