If you use Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram, you must have noticed a change in the feed in recent times. Now a report has revealed that Meta has lost about 2 crore (20 million) daily active users. This decline has become a matter of concern for the company.
A major reason for this decline is believed to be the changing experience of users. Many people say that now less posts from friends and followed accounts are visible in their feed, while advertisements and ‘suggested posts’ are more visible. Due to this, users are finding the feed very cluttered and less useful.
Constantly appearing ads and promotional content have also troubled the users. Many times, sponsored posts appear repeatedly in just a few scrolls, which spoils the browsing experience. Apart from this, the abundance of similar or low quality content is also reducing the interest of users.
In view of these problems, Meta is now making changes in its algorithm. The company is planning to promote original content especially on Instagram. Accounts that repeatedly repost or share content without changes may have their reach reduced. This will promote better and unique content.
Changes on Facebook too
Also, similar changes can be made on Facebook, so that more useful content can be shown to the users. The aim of the company is to improve the experience of the users and to increase their interest again.
Apart from this, increasing competition in the field of social media is also becoming a challenge for Meta. New platforms are giving users more control and different kind of content experience, due to which people are shifting there.
This time is very important for Meta. If the company is successful in improving the user experience on its platforms, it can bring back its users, otherwise this decline may continue further.
