Mumbai Indians were the pre season favourites to win the title for one simple reason- the team possesses many proven match winners and quality international stars.

That the management should be content having assembled such a star studded squad is an understatement, but despite all the quality and experience in the team, MI has massively underperformed this season.

None of its batters or bowls feature in the top five of the runs and wickets charts, and the form of Suryakumar yadav, Tilak Varma, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been a big let down- include captain Hardik Pandya in that list as well. 

MI coach Mahela Jayawardene is adamant that his team is not willing to give up just yet, and with the ith a group stage exit staring in its face, MI need its experienced players to step up before its too late.
