Many users have complained that when they try to open WhatsApp Web on the browser by scanning the passkey through the mobile app, they are being redirected to the Facebook log-in page. Hundreds of users have lodged a complaint about this on the outage tracking platform Down Detector. This platform monitors problems in digital services based on data received from users in real time.
This technical glitch affected WhatsApp users around the world including America. A large number of complaints of service disruption were also reported from Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore. In America alone, more than 200 people filed complaints on the DownDetector platform. According to DownDetector data, 48% of the complaints recorded during this global outage were related to the website (WhatsApp Web), while 21% of the problems were related to the mobile app and 19% were related to problems in the log-in process.
