With this your privacy will become stronger than before. If an unknown person messages you, he will see only your username and not your phone number.
Important points about Username feature-
- Number will remain secret: Your number will not be visible to unknown people in group chats or direct messages.
- Freedom to change: You can change your username whenever you want. This will not affect your old chats or data.
- Number required for login: For account login and recovery, your number will remain linked as before, only it will remain hidden from others.
- Completely Optional: This feature is completely at your discretion. If you do not want to create a username, then like before, you can use WhatsApp only with the number.
What are the rules for creating a username?
Username should be 3 to 35 characters. It is necessary to have at least one letter in it. You can use lowercase, numbers, dot (.), and underscore (_). The username must begin or end with ‘www.’ Or things like ‘.com’ should not be there.
