The electric two-wheeler (E2W) segment in India performed brilliantly in May 2026. Total sales of 1,70,570 units were recorded, which is 63 percent more than 1,04,896 units in May 2025. This figure is the second highest ever monthly figure for the segment, coming just after the record of March 2026 (1,99,268 units).

The sharp rise in petrol prices in the second fortnight of May attracted buyers towards electric scooters. In comparison to 66,487 units in the first two weeks, 1,04,083 units were sold in the second fortnight. Companies like TVS, Bajaj, Ather, Hero Vida and Greaves achieved their second highest monthly sales figures ever. Let’s take a look at the sales reports of these electric two-wheeler companies.

TVS Motor Company

Market leader TVS Motor sold 42,415 electric scooters in May, up 64 percent from 25,804 units last year. The company’s market share was 25 percent. iQube is still the best selling model, while the demand for Orbiter is also increasing. This was the company’s second best month after the record of 51,593 units in March 2026.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto has sold 39,142 units of Chetak scooters, which shows a growth of 73 percent year-on-year. The company’s market share was 23 percent. The gap between TVS and Bajaj is now just 3,273 units. The company is planning to launch new products under the Chetak brand in FY27.

Ather Energy

Ather has registered double the annual sales by selling 28,211 units. The Rizta model has crossed the cumulative figure of 3 lakh units. The company’s market share was 17 percent. This was its second best month after March 2026.

Hero Vida

Vida showed the best development and sold 19,051 units, a huge growth of 158 percent year-on-year. The company’s market share increased to 11 percent. Total sales have crossed 2.5 lakh units. The position of the company is getting stronger due to the rapidly increasing demand.

Ola Electric

Ola Electric ranked fifth and sold 15,141 units, which is its best performance in the last five months. However, annual sales have declined by 20 percent and market share has remained at 9 percent.

Apart from the top-5 companies, Greaves Electric Mobility has sold 7,696 units. River Mobility registered an impressive 245 percent growth with 3,717 units. Bgauss Auto has sold 3,296 units. Bounce Electric and Simple Energy are also growing rapidly. The top-10 companies captured a total of 94 percent market share, while the remaining 165 smaller companies captured the remaining 6 percent. Overall, petrol inflation and increasing awareness are strengthening the E2W segment.
