India captain Harmanpreet Kaur lauded wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh after her blistering knock during the side’s win against Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday.

The Women in Blue eased past arch-rival Pakistan with a 64-run win to open their campaign on a thumping note.

Richa’s 17-ball 34 helped India set a 171-run target for Pakistan, which ended up being too much to chase for Fatima Sana’s side.

The Indian keeper-batter has, over the years, developed the reputation of being a finisher, often digging India out of a hole with quick-fire cameos.

“If it is in my hands, I would love to send her on the first ball. But she has a role to play and she is doing well,” Harmanpreet said of Richa after the match.

India next faces the Netherlands on June 17.
