Kieron Pollard overtakes Chris Gayle to become highest run-scorer in T20s


Kieron Pollard overtook Chris Gayle to become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket during an MLC 2026 game in Dallas on Sunday.

Pollard broke the record while scoring a 56-ball hundred, which came in a losing cause for MI New York against Washington Freedom.

The 39-year-old is the only cricketer to have played more than 700 T20 matches, having featured in leagues across the globe for nearly two decades. Pollard has also taken 333 wickets and claimed 405 catches in the format.

Gayle, with 14,562 runs, had held the T20 batting record for over a decade.

Chris Gayle: 14,562 runs (463 matches)

Alex Hales: 14,449 runs (528 matches)

Jos Buttler: 14,371 runs (510 matches)

Virat Kohli: 14,218 runs (430 matches)
