Now the hassle of OTP is over? Vi introduces Silent Mobile Verification
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced a new and secure login system for its customers. The company has launched Silent Mobile Verification (SMV) technology, which will work on Meta’s popular platforms WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. The purpose of this technology is to provide users a fast and safe login experience without password and without OTP.
Usually, to login to any app or website, one has to go through password, OTP or other verification process. But Vi’s new SMV technology can make this process much easier. This system verifies the user’s mobile number in the background itself, so that there is no need to enter OTP again and again or remember the password.
According to the company, when a Vi customer uses meta platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram on the Vodafone Idea network, silent mobile verification will work automatically. This entire process will happen in the background and the user will not need any other step.
The benefit of this technology will be available in situations like creating new accounts, verifying mobile number, login or re-login and account recovery. Apart from this, the user will also get a better and safer experience during the security check.
Vi says that SMV will not only make the login process faster but will also strengthen online security. Network based verification can help in reducing threats like phishing, fake OTP and digital identity theft.
SIM binding is also in discussion…
Meanwhile, there is a lot of discussion about the SIM Binding feature of WhatsApp. This feature will work to connect the mobile number and SIM card more strongly. According to reports, in future it may be necessary to have an active SIM in the device to use WhatsApp. However, the government rule related to this has not been implemented at present and it is likely to be implemented later.
Amidst the rapidly increasing digital usage in India, network-based verification technologies are being considered an important step towards strengthening online security. Vi’s new Silent Mobile Verification technology is also a big effort in this direction, which will provide users with better security and a more convenient login experience.
