How can India qualify for the semifinals of Women’s T20 World Cup 2026?

India’s hopes of qualifying for the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 have been dealt a blow after it suffered defeat to South Africa at Manchester on June 21.

India now has four points from three matches, and has two matches against Bangladesh (June 25) and Australia (June 28) remaining.

It remains in second on Net Run Rate, but is level on points South Africa and Bangladesh.

If India is to qualify for the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup, it will likely need to win both of its remaining matches. If it wins both matches, it will likely progress to the semifinals even if South Africa wins boht of its matches as its NRR (2.511) is vastly superior to the Proteas’ (-0.546).

However, if it loses either of those remaining matches, it will be at the mercy of South Africa’s results against Bangladesh and Netherlands. If the Proteas win both matches and India loses, it will go through with two more points.

Bangladesh has matches against India and South Africa remaining, and will progress if it wins both.
