Big change in Instagram TV app, casting reels became easier

Popular platform Instagram no longer wants to be limited to smartphones only. The Meta-owned social media platform has expanded its TV app and made it available for Samsung Smart TVs in the US. Along with this, the company has also announced many new features, the purpose of which is to make the experience of watching videos on the big screen more social and fun.

Instagram said that the TV app can now be used on Samsung Smart TVs launched in 2020 or later. Earlier this app was available on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV devices. After the new expansion, Instagram TV app is supported on most Connected TV devices in the US.

The company has also started testing internet-based channels to further improve the way of watching videos. In these channels, videos of comedy, sports, creators and other topics will be seen at one place, which will make it easier to find favorite content while sitting with family or friends.

Another special feature of Instagram is Reels Casting. With its help, users will be able to play reels on TV directly from their smartphone.

This feature, available on Google TV and Fire TV devices, will also show on the big screen those videos which the user has saved in his personal collection. This will make it easier than ever to share content with friends and family.

Stories will also be visible
The company is also adding support for stories in the TV app. Apart from this, a separate section is being tested for Horizontal Videos, so that the videos prepared for the big screen can be watched better. Instagram says that all these features are still in the initial testing stage and are being created keeping in mind the viewing habits of the users.

Instagram believes that with the arrival of longer videos and episode-based content on TV, creators will get an opportunity to tell their stories in more detail. The company is also working with many creators and taking their feedback to improve this new experience.

Haven’t entered India yet
Currently, the Instagram TV app and its new features are available only in the US. The company has not yet told when this facility will reach other countries including India. However, it is clear from this update that Instagram is now preparing to strengthen its presence on smartphones as well as Connected TV platforms.
