When was the last time a teenager debuted for India in men’s cricket?

At just 15 years and 91 days old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become India’s youngest-ever international debutant when the Men in Blue face Ireland in the first T20I in Belfast on Friday.

The record is currently held by Sachin Tendulkar, who was 16 years and 205 days old when he made his international debut against Pakistan in 1989.

If selected, Sooryavanshi would also become the first teenager to play for India this decade. The last teenage debutant was Prithvi Shaw, who made his international bow at 18 years and 329 days in the first Test against the West Indies on October 4, 2018.

Shaw marked his debut with a century, becoming the youngest Indian to score a hundred on Test debut. He has since played five matches for India across formats before falling out of contention.
