
Chandigarh: The Adult and elderly Vaccination Clinic was inaugurated by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria ji at Govt. Medical College Hospital, Chandigarh on Saturday. The clinic will be run by Rotary Club Chandigarh Central in collaboration with the Deptt. of Community Medicine, GMCH, Chandigarh.
Adult immunization services will cater to influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia, hepatitis A and B, typhoid, tetanus, shingles and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) continue to cause serious illness, hospitalization and preventable deaths among adults every year. Many of these could be avoided with timely vaccination.
It will be a one stop platform where adults/elderly can receive a personalized vaccine assessment based on their age, health status and lifestyle. By bringing this service into the public sector, GMCH-32 and the Rotary Club Chandigarh Central are ensuring that these benefits are no longer limited to those who can afford private care.
Around 40 Rotarians from different Rotary Clubs of Distt 3080 were also present including Rtn. Vebhu Bhatnagar President and Rtn. R S Cheema AG Zone 5 from Rotary Club Chandigarh Central. From GMCH, Chandigarh Dr. Ravneet Kaur Director Principal, Dr Vishal Guglani Medical Suptd. and Dr. Sonia Puri HOD Community Medicine were also present.
