We need to rethink our T20 game: India head coach Muzumdar after World Cup exit

India head coach Amol Muzumdar admitted that the side will need to re-strategise its T20 game after it exited the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a loss to Australia.

On Sunday at Lord’s, the Women in Blue were condemned to a six-wicket defeat after they failed to defend 170. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. failed to go past the group stage for the second edition in a row.

“I guess it was a par score. We had the momentum towards the end of the innings, and I think we carried it on the field as well. It’s just that at the end of the day, I think Australia was a better side than us,” Muzumdar told reporters after the match.

“I think we have to rethink our strategy, our T20 game. We really need to put our heads around what combination we are going to play,” he added.
