The company has announced the Username feature, with the help of which users will be able to talk to other people without sharing their mobile number. Till now, to talk to a new person on WhatsApp, it was necessary to share the phone number. But after the new username feature, users will be able to choose a unique username and through that other people will be able to contact them.

Its biggest benefit will be for those people who want to join a new person, group or community, but do not want to share their personal mobile number.

According to WhatsApp, there will be no public directory or search list in this feature. That means no one will be able to find your username easily. For someone to contact you for the first time, it will be necessary to know your correct Username.
