Former India cricketer R Ashwin has been ruled out of the remainder of the Major Cricket League (MLC) 2026 season after sustaining a knee injury. Australian pacer Peter Siddle has been named as his replacement.
Ashwin was picked by the San Francisco Unicorns ahead of the season, making him the first Indian-capped player to participate in the US-based league.
The off-spinner played just the one game for his side against LA Knight Riders and went wicketless on debut, registering figures of 0/24 from his two overs.
Earlier in the year, Ashwin had pulled out of his commitment with BBL franchise Sydney Thunder with a similar knee injury.
