Nissan has made a strong claim in terms of safety by launching its new compact SUV Tecton in the Indian market. Nissan Tecton has achieved full 5 star rating in Bharat NCAP crash test. This SUV is the corporate twin of Renault Duster, which is built on the same platform (RGMP). Therefore, it has similar body structure and safety equipment, due to which the same testing of Duster was applied on Tecton.
Tecton scored 30.49 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. The design of Tecton is bold and modern, with petrol-inspired styling, good ground clearance (212 mm) and a spacious cabin. Prices start from ₹ 10.49 lakh to ₹ 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom), making it attractive compared to competitors like Creta, Seltos and Taigun. Since its launch, this SUV offers the best combination of safety, performance and value for money.

Talking about Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), the Tecton scored 14.49 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16/16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. Side pole impact test was also successful. Chest protection for the driver and front passenger received an Adequate rating, while head, neck and legs received a Good rating.
Maximum 24/24 points in child occupant protection (COP) in dynamic crash test and 12/12 points in child restraint system installation. The overall score in vehicle assessment was 45/49 with 9 points out of 13. ISOFIX anchorages are standard. Talking about safety assist system, features like ESC, seat belt reminder and pedestrian protection are available in all variants.
Safety Features
6 airbags (including curtain airbags), ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, TPMS, rear parking sensors and seat belt pretensioners are standard across all variants. Higher variants come with features like 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS (Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring).
Engine and Mileage
Tecton comes with two turbo-petrol engine options. The first 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine (100 PS / 166 Nm) with 6-speed manual returns a claimed ARAI mileage of 19.4 kmpl. The second 1.3-litre 4-cylinder engine (163 PS / 280 Nm) with 6-speed manual or DCT returns a claimed mileage of 17.8 kmpl (MT) and 18.5 kmpl (DCT). Both are FWD. Know variant-wise ex-showroom price-
