Washington Sundar likely to miss third ODI with hamstring injury

All-rounder Washington Sundar is in all likelihood set to miss the third ODI against England at Lord’s with a hamstring injury.

Washington sustained the injury during the first innings of the second ODI while completing a run in the 33rd over off Saqib Mahmood’s bowling.

The 26-year-old did not come out to bowl in the second innings as England won by four wickets to level the series 1-1.

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak after the game had said that Washington’s injury was not looking good.

“Washington’s injury which he had when he ran his first run to mid-off. His hamstring, I think, it looks like a bad injury, and next ball he got out.”

While there has still been no official word from the team management regarding his fitness status, Kotak’s statement is an early indication that India will be making atleast one change for the series decider at Lord’s.

Among the options of the bench, Kuldeep Yadav seems like the most likely candidate who will take Washington’s place in the Playing XI.
