The first T20I between India and Afghanistan, scheduled to take place at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, will go on as schedule, the Delhi & District Cricket Association confirmed on Thursday.
“Following a meeting with the Delhi Traffic Police, DDCA has been assured of all necessary support and arrangements. No postponement,” DDCA said in a post on X.
This comes after reports emerged of a potential rescheduling of the fixture due to security concerns arising from the BRICS summit in the national capital.
The BRICS conclave over the weekend means the DDCA will be taking additional measures for crowd management during the first T20I. “We have been told to ensure the crowd management is smooth. Car parking will be severely restricted outside the stadium,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told Sportstar.
