Team India physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain is on his way out of the national setup, serving his notice period and remaining absent from the squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi.
Jain has been part of the Indian team’s medical and support staff for several years and has worked closely with players on injury management, rehabilitation and recovery. He has been a regular presence on India’s tours and home assignments, overseeing the day-to-day fitness and medical requirements of the squad.
He came into the national setup after a long stint in domestic and franchise cricket. He was previously associated with the Bengal domestic team before joining Kolkata Knight Riders, where he served as head physiotherapist from 2012 to 2022. His decade-long stint with KKR saw him work closely with the franchise’s players through multiple IPL seasons.

He subsequently moved into the Indian team setup, taking on a wider role with the national side. However, with a spate of injuries in the team in recent months, Jain’s role was also being reviewed by the Board.
Sources indicate that Jain could return to an IPL franchise, possibly reuniting with his former team, KKR. However, there is no official word on his next move.
His departure will bring a change to India’s medical setup, with the BCCI expected to begin the process of finding his replacement. There is no indication yet of when a successor will be appointed.
Meanwhile, bowling coach Morne Morkel missed India’s training session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday as he is in South Africa to sort out the renewal of his work visa.
Morkel is expected to link up with the team in the next few days.
Sources have also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will join the Indian team late on Thursday after being cleared by the Centre of Excellence (CoE). Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who were involved in the Duleep Trophy final, will also arrive in the national capital late in the evening.
