He achieved this milestone when he claimed the wicket of England captain Harry Brook in Birmingham on 14 July 2026. Only two other Indian bowlers, Mohd Shami and Kuldeep Yadav, needed fewer balls than Bumrah.

6 The number of Indian players who have scored a fifty-plus and claimed four or more wickets in the same ODI match. Axar Patel is the latest to do this in the Birmingham ODI. This was the eighth time an Indian player has managed this feat, with Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh each doing it twice. Axar now also joins Yuvraj Singh and Hardik Pandya as the third Indian to achieve this double against England. Meanwhile, Axar is the ninth ODI player to do this against England. Ishan Kishan became the latest to achieve this for India, pouching four catches in the second ODI in Cardiff on 16 July 2026. He also became the fourth Indian keeper to achieve this in England against all opponents, as shown in the second table below. He is also the third keeper to claim four dismissals in an ODI in Cardiff, after Jonny Bairstow and Buttler, with the latter doing it in the first innings in Cardiff.

17 The number of ODI batters who missed their three-figure score by one run, without being dismissed. Joe Root, in Cardiff on 16 Jul 2026, became the latest. However, although he became the eighth England batter to miss a century by one run, he became its first to remain unbeaten, while doing so. Incidentally, he is the fourth batter to miss a hundred by one run without being dismissed against India.
