TThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted the Duleep Trophy final to Chennai, opening the door for spectators to watch the tournament’s marquee game.
“While the first two rounds will be held at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, we decided to shift the final to the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, so that general spectators can come and watch the top players in action,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Sportstar.
The final, scheduled from September 6 to 10, was originally slated to be played behind closed doors at the CoE on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The decision to move it was taken because of restrictions on the number of spectators that can be accommodated at the facility.

The BCCI had been looking for a way to have the summit clash played in front of a crowd, with Saikia recently saying the board would make every effort to allow fans to watch the final.
The move to Chennai means the top performers from the tournament will get the chance to play the final in front of a sizeable home crowd, rather than an empty stand.
The first two rounds will remain at the CoE, with the opening round scheduled from August 23 to 26 and the second from August 30 to September 2. As things stand now, both the games will be played without spectators.
