Mayank Agarwal joins Ben Stokes’ Durham for remainder of County Championship season

Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal wll join County Championship side Durham for the remainder of the season, where he will link up with former England Test captain Ben Stokes.

Mayank — who will be a replacement for the departing David Bedingham — will be available for the final four matches of the season, beginning with Wednesday’s clash against Northamptonshire.

Mayank had a mixed 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season for Karnataka, scoring 678 runs at an average of 42.37 including a century in the final, but had captaincy taken away from him midway through the season.

Overall, he has 8929 First-Class runs, and has 1488 Test runs at an average of 41.33 in 21 international appearances. This is his second stint in English domestic cricket having played the final three games of last season for Yorkshire.

“We are delighted to have Mayank joining us for our County Championship run in,” said Durham head coach Ryan Campbell.

“With David Bedingham returning to South Africa ahead of their international red ball summer it was important we acted by recruiting a high-class international cricketer for the remainder of the season.

“Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record, we look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship.”
