An injured Rishabh Pant didn’t take the field on day three of the second Test against Sri Lanka and Dhruv Jurel kept the wickets at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground on Tuesday.

Pant had injured his wrist while batting on the opening day — due to which he retired hurt — and then had a sore on his right shoulder returning to bat next day.

India bowled three overs at the end of day two and Jurel kept the wickets. At stumps, he clarified: “Right now, (Rishabh) Pant has a sore right shoulder. We are closely monitoring him. Today I kept wickets, hopefully he will be fit.”

However, Jurel donned the gloves at the start of the third day as well, indicating Pant hasn’t recovered yet.

Both Pant and Jurel played crucial knocks as India put on 503/9D on the scoreboard. While Pant made 63, Jurel registered his second Test century and remained unbeaten on 115, helping India cross the 500-run mark.
