India captain Shubman Gill slipped two places on Wednesday to drop to the ninth spot on the ICC Test batter rankings. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Matt Henry leapfrogged pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on the standings to take second place among bowlers.
Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal’s twin centuries against Sri Lanka saw him jump five places to 54th. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant remains the country’s highest-ranked Test batter.
In other notable movements from the recently concluded IND-SL series, Sonal Dinusha’s two hundreds have helped him reach a career-best 25th position with an impressive average of 86.57 in his first five Tests. In the Indian camp, Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 115 has taken him from 83rd to 65th. Sri Lanka batter Pasindu Sooriyabandara made 80 and 92 in just his second Test to move up a whopping 170 places to 74th, and Kamindu Mendis is back in the top 10 after his second-innings half-century.
Sri Lanka seam bowler Asitha Fernando has moved up four places to 11th, India spinner Manav Suthar has gone up four slots to 44th, and Mohammed Siraj has inched up one slot to 17th position.

Meanwhile, England fast bowlers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue continue to be on the ascent in the bowling rankings after spearheading the team to a decisive 2-0 lead over Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship series at Lord’s.
Robinson, Player of the Match in both Tests, grabbed four wickets in each innings to finish with impressive match figures of eight for 35. He is now fifth, just a slot below a career-best fourth position achieved in February 2023. His latest gain of six slots means he has progressed 22 places since the start of the series.
Tongue picked up five wickets in the match to move up four places to a career-best 13th position, 20 places up in the series.
Pakistan seam bowler Mohammad Abbas has also gained on the back of some consistent performances, his nine-wicket match haul lifting him up 10 places to joint-15th.
Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel has gained big, his second-innings 97 lifting him 15 places to 18th. He is now the second-highest-ranked batter from his country behind captain Babar Azam, who has slipped five places to 15th position.
