Sri Lankan middle-order batter Sonal Dinusha scored his third century in four innings against India on Day 5 of the second Test on Thursday.
Dinusha became only the third batter in Test history to score centuries in both innings after his team was forced to follow on, joining India’s Vijay Hazare, who achieved the feat against Australia in Adelaide in 1948, and Andy Flower, who did so for Zimbabwe against South Africa in Harare in 2001.
Dinusha reached the landmark with a brace off a flick through midwicket, immediately after Tea.
Dinusha has also become only the third Sri Lankan batter to score centuries in both innings of a Test against India. He joins Duleep Mendis, who scored 105 in each innings in Chennai in 1982, and Aravinda de Silva, who made 146 and 120 at the SSC in Colombo in 1997. Dinusha scored 103 in the first innings, and has followed it up with another hundred.
