Auqib Nabi claimed his maiden County Championship wicket playing for Surrey against Yorkshire at The Oval on Thursday.
Nabi removed his Indian Test teammate, Kuldeep Yadav, and finished with the figures of 1/33 in 15 overs in his first ever outing in the England’s first division tournament.
Kuldeep got out after scoring 17 off 53 balls as Yorkshire was bowled out for 185.
The Jammu & Kashmir bowler came around the wicket and moved the ball just a touch away from the left-handed Kuldeep who got an edge straight to the second slip fielder, Ollie Pope.
Nabi bowled an economical spell, conceding just 2.20 runs per over and also bowled three maiden overs.
The medium pacer was part of India’s Test squad for the recently held away series against Sri Lanka. However, he didn’t get to play in either of the two games.
Nabi then joined Surrey for matches against Yorkshire, Sussex, and Glamorgan.
The stint is designed to give Nabi exposure to conditions that could resemble those he encounters when India plays two Tests in New Zealand in November.
Nabi is expected to return to India ahead of the India A series against Australia A in Puducherry, with the four-day matches scheduled to begin on September 22.
