Trade experts hail Akshaye Khanna’s performance in Dhurandhar: “He’s like a single malt – the older he gets, the better he tastes!” : Bollywood News

Dhurandhar has an ensemble cast, but the one actor who has stood out is Akshaye Khanna. We spoke to trade experts about Dhurandhar and its various aspects. A few of them had differences of opinion about its box office prospects and those of the sequel. But all of them were unanimously on the same page when asked about Akshaye Khanna.

Trade experts hail Akshaye Khanna’s performance in Dhurandhar: “He’s like a single malt – the older he gets, the better he tastes!”Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “I don’t have words. I have always maintained that he’s one of the finest actors of Indian cinema. The new generation has noticed Akshaye Khanna now. Incidentally, I had gone for the mahurat of his debut film, Himalay Putra (1997), in 1995. When I saw that film, I realized that he had tremendous potential. Look at his body of work. He has proven himself time and again. Notwithstanding the fate of his films, the fact is that he has always been very good. In Dhurandhar, no one else could have portrayed the way he portrayed Rehman Dakait. For me, he’s not Akshaye. He’s Rehman. That song has gone viral and Akshaye Khanna is all over the internet. The irony is, Akshaye doesn’t have an account on social media (laughs)! He has always been like this and I like this about him. He lets the work speak for itself.”

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, opined, “He’s like a single malt – the older he gets, the better he tastes! I have loved him since his first film, Himalay Putra and he has been good in every film since then. Look at him as Rehman Dakait! We thought he killed it in Chhaava (2025) and then he ends the year with another knockout performance in the form of Dhurandhar. You should check out the response he generates in theatres. He gets the maximum claps. What happened to Bobby Deol in Animal (2023), the same thing is seen here. It’s a renaissance of these actors and its beautiful that we are rediscovering these 90s heroes.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan is not surprised with the feedback he has elicited, “From the teaser itself, we knew that Akshaye Khanna would rock the show.”

Girish Johar, producer and eminent film business analyst, agreed, “He’s an outstanding actor. It was expected that he would trump as soon as we saw him in the teaser. He has delivered one of the best performances and he always does that. His fan following has increased much more with this outing.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal predicted, “He’ll be flooded with offers. He’ll be the new in-demand actor.”

Vishek Chauhan further stated, “Give him any role and he’ll do full justice. I never imagined he would play Aurangzeb the way he did in Chhaava. It was chilling to see him and as Rehman Dakait as well, he’s frightening as hell. It’s also so good to see larger-than-life, cool villains making a comeback in cinema. Films ki jaan hote hai villains. Without them, how will the people enjoy?”

He signed off by saying, “Akshaye Khanna is operating in God mode now! Unko 10 mein se 100 number. Jitni bhi taareef karein unki, woh kam hai.”
