The toss was initially scheduled to take place at 6:30PM, with play beginning at 7:00PM, but was delayed due to excessive fog. A total of six inspections took place between 6:50PM and 9:25PM.
Following the conclusion of the sixth and final inspection, umpires KN Ananthapadmanabhan and and Rohan Pandit officially confirmed that the match had been called off.
The umpires were seen walking around the ground attempting see the ball from the boundary line as a test of visibility on the ground.
