IND vs SA, 5th T20I: Umpire Rohan Pandit suffers injury during series decider in Ahmedabad

Indian umpire Rohan Pandit was injured during the fifth T20I between India and South Africa in Ahmedabad on Friday after Sanju Samson drilled the ball back to the bowler, Donovan Ferreira, who dropped a tough return catch, leading to the ball deflecting off his hand and hitting the umpire on the knee.

Pandit, standing in his 12th T20I match, went down in pain, leading to a brief interruption in play, but continued to officiate at the contest after the break.

The incident occurred in the ninth over of the match after openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson gave India a blazing start. Abhishek was dismissed in the last over of the PowerPlay for a 21-ball 34 before Samson perished in the 10th over, after scoring 37 off 22 balls.

India leads the five-match T20I series 2-1 after the fourth match in Lucknow was abandoned due to fog.
