Dhurandhar choreographer opens up on replacing Tamannaah Bhatia with Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza in Shararat: “It would’ve been about her, not the film”Set during a lavish wedding celebration in the film, ‘Shararat’ featured two performers entertaining guests at a high-profile Karachi wedding. However, the song almost had a very different face. Vijay Ganguly later revealed that Tamannaah Bhatia was his original choice for the number, a suggestion that director Aditya Dhar ultimately declined.
Speaking to Filmygyan, Vijay explained that Tamannaah was the first name that came to his mind while conceptualising the song. He shared that he had proposed her for the dance sequence, but Aditya was clear about his vision. According to Vijay, the director did not want the song to feel like a standalone “item number” that distracted from the film’s narrative.
Vijay recalled that Aditya felt centring the song around a single star performer could draw attention away from the story. Instead, the director preferred having two dancers so the focus remained on the ongoing events in the film. This approach eventually led to the casting of Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza. Vijay added that Aditya was keen on ensuring the song flowed organically within the story rather than feeling like a break from it.
Dhurandhar is a spy thriller inspired by true events and stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian operative who infiltrates criminal gangs in Pakistan’s Lyari and works to dismantle their terrorist connections. The film also features Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. Since its release, Dhurandhar has emerged as a major box office success over worldwide.
