“KSCA has been informed by the police authorities that, based on the recommendations of the Review Committee, permission for the conduct of matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is not finding favour,” the board said in a statement.
Previously, Venkatesh Prasad, the newly appointed president of KSCA, met Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D. K. Shivakumar to request permission for resuming matches with spectators at the iconic venue.
“The KSCA respectfully acknowledges this position and places on record its sincere gratitude to Government of Karnataka for considering KSCA’s request at the cabinet level and for the continued support and engagement extended to the Association,” the statement added.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy matches in Bengaluru will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Cricket at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been suspended since June this year after 11 people died and 33 were left injured when fans gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 title win.
