Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: Rohit’s 155 helps Mumbai thrash Sikkim
The former India captain entertained the 20,000-plus spectators at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with a flawless 94-ball-155, taking the young and inexperienced Sikkim bowlers to the cleaners in a 237-run pursuit.
On a flat deck, Rohit set the tone with a well-timed shot over cover, off seamer Kranthi Kumar, and followed it up with a trademark swivel-pull over the backward square leg fence for a six. While the crowd lapped up every bit of it, Rohit capitalised on a couple of reprieves to bring up his fifty in just 28 balls, stitching together a 141-run opening partnership with Angkrish Ranguvanshi.

After Ashish’s Thapa’s 87-ball-79 guided Sikkim to 236 for 6, the bowlers hoped to create some opportunities, but Rohit foiled all their plans, cutting and driving at will. He smacked Kranthi for seven fours to leave Sikkim frustrated.
While Rohit accumulated at one hand, Raghuvanshi was steady, holding fort at the other until he was trapped leg before by leg-spinner Ankur. Rohit raced to his 37th List A century in just 62 balls before adding another fifty run off just 29 balls.
While Rohit’s innings was the highlight of the day, Musheer Khan, too, chipped in with an unbeaten 26-ball-27 to add 85 runs for the second wicket, which ensured that Mumbai did not let it slip after a solid start. He saw it through till the end with Mumbai chasing down the target in 30.3 overs.
On the eve of the match, Sikkim captain Lee Yong Lepcha admitted that this was going to be the biggest match of their careers, and his men managed to tackle a formidable bowling unit to put up a competitive total.
But eventually, it turned out to be a Rohit show through and through.
