Why is Vaibhav Suryavanshi not playing for Bihar in Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Manipur?

Indian teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi missed Bihar’s second-round Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi for quite a special reason.

The 14-year-old, who has a breakout year at franchise and international level in Indian colours, was conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar by President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday.

Felicitated at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on occassion of Veer Bal DIwas which honours children for their achievements, the young southpaw blended talent and fearless hitting. With Rajasthan Royals dedicatedly working on him in the Indian Premier League, he became the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket in just his third match with a 101-run knock off 38 balls — the second-fastest century in IPL history.

He blasted an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls for Bihar against Maharashtra in the SMAT 2025, becoming the youngest player ever to record a century in the tournament’s history. In Bihar’s first game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Suryavanshi smashed 190 runs off just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.

Google also revealed that he was the most-searched Indian personality on the plartform this year.

With the U19 T20 World Cup coming up, where Suryavanshi features in the Indian squad, Bihar is set to miss his presence for the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well.
