The programme aimed at providing training support and facilitating livelihood enhancement loans for forest-dependent communities. More than 100 local residents, including women and youth, took part in the event. Yogesh Kumar Garg, Deputy Director, STR, and District Forest Officer, Hasanur Division, presided over the programme, which was attended by representatives of non-governmental organisations, including the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
During interactive sessions, participants were informed about the objectives and benefits of the TBGP scheme and were asked to seek clarifications. Officials encouraged the formation of cluster- and group-based enterprises in trades such as tailoring, aari embroidery, plumbing, electrical work, retail businesses, floriculture, handicrafts and dairy farming.
Forest officials said that collective enterprises would enhance bargaining power, reduce input costs and improve market access, thereby strengthening sustainable livelihood options. They assured beneficiaries of comprehensive support, including skill development, credit facilitation, market linkages and branding assistance.
Community members were urged to extend their cooperation to the Forest Department in conserving forests, protecting wildlife and maintaining the ecological balance of the region.
