IND-W vs SL-W: G. Kamalini makes T20I debut during fifth match between India and Sri Lanka

Young batter G. Kamalini was handed her T20I debut on Tuesday ahead of India’s fifth and final match against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

The 17-year-old became the 90th player to represent the country in the format.

Kamalini is likely to open the batting, alongside Shafali Verma, as she was brought into the playing XI in place of Smriti Mandhana, who has been rested.

The teenager from Tamil Nadu was part of the Under-19 World Cup-winning Indian squad, and she was named in the Team of the Tournament for her 143 runs in seven innings.

The Women in Blue lead the series 4-0 and look to clinch a whitewash over the visitors. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and elected to bowl in the fifth match.
