In the 2023 tour of India, Khawaja displayed his skills to handle the subcontinent conditions, scoring 180 in the Ahmedabad Test. Two knocks that more or less revived Khawaja’s Test career. Coming into the Test side after missing 14 consecutive matches, Khawaja amassed 137 off 260 balls in the first innings and followed it up with a 138-ball 101 in the second essay—while batting at number five. The twin hundreds at SCG, that too in an Ashes Test, boosted his profile as he became a key member of Australia’s batting lineup post that game.
