South Africa squad for T20 World Cup 2026; Full list of players

Aiden Markram will lead the 15-member South Africa squad in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, the national cricket board announced on Friday.

The right-handed batter continues his tenure as T20 International (T20I) captain, leading a squad that strikes a deliberate balance between veteran stability and explosive young talent.

In a massive boost for the Proteas’ bowling attack, spearhead Kagiso Rabada has been cleared for a return to action. Rabada missed the recent white-ball tour against India due to a rib injury, but his presence in the squad provides the necessary firepower and experience to lead the pace battery.

Explosive top-order wicketkeeper-batter, Ryan Rickelton, has been left out of the squad, while Jason Smith, who has played just two T20Is, gets a call-up. Middle-order batter Tristan Stubbs also misses out.

South Africa has been drawn in Group D, a pool that requires clinical consistency. It will face off against Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Proteas will kick off their campaign on February 9 against Canada in Ahmedabad.

Full squad

Aiden Markram (Captain), Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, Jason Smith, Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj, and Anrich Nortje.
