Malavika Mohanan talks about working across industries: “I personally love the phase I’m at in my career” : Bollywood News

Malavika Mohanan talks about working across industries: “I personally love the phase I’m at in my career”Addressing how she is handling three major projects simultaneously — Thangalaan opposite Vikram, Hridayapoorvam with Mohanlal and her Telugu debut The RajaSaab — Malavika spoke about the changing dynamics of the film industry. She noted that the increasing reach of films through OTT platforms and social media has blurred traditional boundaries between regional industries.
“One thing that I really enjoy is I feel it’s a fantastic time to be an actor because the boundaries between all the industries have really blurred because of OTT, because of social media. You do a good film in any language and if people like the film, it’ll travel, it’ll get a wider audience, it’ll reach, it’ll have a wider reach. I feel like I’m at a very, I personally love the phase I’m at in my career because I’m working with some of the biggest stars and with some of the best directors across multiple industries,” she said.
Malavika further spoke about the range of characters she has been able to explore in recent projects, highlighting how shifting between genres and narratives has helped her grow as an actor. From period dramas to contemporary stories, she believes the contrast has been creatively fulfilling. She added, “To get to work with actors like Mohanlal sir, Chiyan Vikram, Thalapathy Vijay, Prabhas sir, it’s so much fun. Also, to jump across genres, to work with a variety of filmmakers, to play a tribal goddess in one film and then to play a very realistic Pune-based city girl in Hridyapoorvam, to now this role in Raja Saab. I like that I’m jumping across completely different characters and sort of exploring myself as an artist, so I’m glad these opportunities are coming my way.”
Malavika’s comments reflect a broader shift within Indian cinema, where actors are increasingly working across industries without being limited by language or geography. With The RajaSaab marking her Telugu debut and established projects in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, she continues to build a filmography defined by variety rather than repetition.
As audiences await her upcoming releases, Malavika Mohanan remains focused on choosing roles that allow her to experiment and evolve, making this phase of her career both professionally demanding and creatively engaging.
