Simple Energy launches Ultra with 400 km range, expands EV scooter lineup
With this launch, Simple Energy’s product lineup now includes four distinct scooter models.
In terms of performance, the electric scooter offers a claimed top speed of 115 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.77 seconds.The Gen 2 variants of the Simple One have also received several updates. The scooters are now 8 kg lighter, with overall weight reduced to 129 kg.
Underseat storage capacity has been increased to 35 litres, while the seat height has been lowered to 780 mm to improve accessibility.
On pricing, the Simple One 4.5 kWh variant delivers an IDC range of 236 km and is priced from ₹1,69,999 ex-showroom Bengaluru. The Simple One 5 kWh variant offers a higher IDC range of 265 km and is priced from ₹1,77,999. The Simple OneS Gen 2 comes with an improved IDC range of 190 km and is priced at ₹1,49,999.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Simple Energy founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar said the company does not see the need for early buyer discounts or price protection, as the current models represent a fresh generation with no legacy buyers.
He added that the introductory price of the Simple Ultra, starting at ₹1.39 lakh, is competitive compared with peers, given the range, technology and safety features on offer.
Rajkumar also outlined the company’s longer-term plans, indicating a potential IPO size of around ₹3,000 crore, with a tentative timeline of FY27 or FY28, subject to market conditions.
He said Simple Energy is targeting EBITDA positivity before the end of FY26 and full net profitability ahead of its public listing.
The new scooters are available across more than 61 Simple Energy showrooms in cities including Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Jaipur and Mangalore, among others. Customers can also purchase the scooters online through Amazon and Flipkart.
As part of its pan-India expansion, Simple Energy is targeting around 150 dealerships and 200 service centres by March 2026.
To date, the company has raised $51 million from investors and high net-worth individuals, including Dr Arokiaswamy Velumani’s family office, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran family office, the Desai family office of Apar Industries, and the Vasavi family office.
In the market, Simple Energy’s new scooters will compete with established electric two-wheeler players such as Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.
