New Nissan Kait debuts in Brazil as entry-level SUV with exports to 20 markets from 2026

Kait Unveiled: Nissan has revealed the new Kait midsize SUV in Brazil. It is a redesigned successor to the previous Kicks and now carries a new model name. The SUV will be produced at the Resende Industrial Complex and will be exported to more than 20 markets from 2026. Nissan positions the Kait as an entry-level SUV for Latin America.

Design Overview: The Nissan Kait features revised exterior styling while retaining the basic shape of the Kicks. It has split LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, a larger grille with horizontal slats and a wider lower air intake. Most body elements are carried over, including the sloping roofline. At the rear, it gains sharper tail-lamps and prominent KAIT lettering on the tailgate.

Exterior Details: The Kait keeps its circular wheel arches, rising beltline, roof rails and body-coloured door handles. New alloy wheels add a sportier appearance. The number plate is now mounted on the bumper. The SUV measures 4,304mm in length, 1,760mm in width and 1,611mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620mm. Boot capacity is 432 litres, and six exterior colours will be available.

Cabin Layout: The interior of the Nissan Kait uses a black theme and has a dashboard layout similar to the Kicks. The air-conditioning vents have a new shape, and the gear selector has a simpler design. The rear seats offer a 60:40 split. Nissan describes the Kait as an entry-level model, but it includes multiple convenience features to enhance daily use.

Feature Highlights: The Kait is offered in Active, Sense Plus, Advance Plus and Exclusive variants. Equipment includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a Pioneer 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wireless phone charger. Other features include upgraded upholstery, automatic digital climate control, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and a full suite of ADAS technologies.

Platform and Engine: The Nissan Kait is based on the V-platform used by the Kicks Play. It is powered by a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 110hp and 146Nm. When running on ethanol, output rises to 113hp and 149Nm. A CVT gearbox is the only transmission option. Nissan reports city fuel efficiency of about 11kpl, emphasising simple and efficient performance.

Market Position: The Kait will be sold alongside the new Kicks and the Magnite in selected international markets. Nissan states that the Kait is tailored for customers seeking practicality, space and essential safety. In Brazil, the model will compete with the Volkswagen Tera, Hyundai Creta, Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian and Chevrolet Tracker. Prices begin at R$117,990, equivalent to roughly ₹20 lakh.

Role in Portfolio: Nissan says the Kait will become an important model in its Latin American portfolio. It sits below the new Kicks and supports the brand’s strategy for expanding in competitive SUV segments. The Kait will not launch in India, where Nissan has announced the Tekton SUV instead. Further technical details will be shared during individual market launches.

Production Expansion: Production of the Nissan Kait has already begun at the Resende plant in Brazil. From 2026, Nissan plans to export to more than 20 countries, mainly in South America. The company sees the Kait as part of its global effort to supply versatile SUVs with adequate interior space, including a 432-litre trunk.
