Under-19 World Cup 2026: Suryavanshi’s blitz powers India to huge win over Scotland in Warm-up match

India cruised to a thumping 121-run win against Scotland in its first Under-19 World Cup warm-up match at the Bulawayo Athletic Club on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first, the Ayush Mhatre-led Indian side posted a mammoth 374 for eight in 50 overs, riding on fifties from Vaibhav Suryavanshi (96 off 50 balls), Aaron George (61 off 58 balls), Vihaan Malhotra (77 off 81 balls) and Abhigyan Kundu (77 off 81 balls).

Suryavanshi was the aggressor in a brisk 70-run opening-wicket stand with skipper Mhatre, who fell for a 19-ball 22. Suryavanshi then added 78 runs with George for the second wicket before falling four runs short of a century. Once George departed, middle-order mainstays Malhotra and Kundu 95-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take India past the 300-run mark. Though India lost its last five wickets for 36 runs, all-rounder R.S. Ambrish’s unbeaten 24-ball 28 ensured the tempo didn’t drastically drop.

Scotland could only muster a meagre 112 for nine in 23.2 overs in reply, chasing a rain-revised 234 in 23.2 overs. Pacer Deepesh Devendran and left-arm spinner Khilan Patel picked three wickets each, while leggie Mohamed Enaan nabbed two as India completed a clinical performance.

India will take on England on Monday in its final warm-up match before facing the USA on Friday in the tournament opener.
