The water level in Papanasam dam stood at 124 feet (the maximum level is 143 feet) with an inflow of 319.46 cusecs and a discharge of 800 cusecs. The level in Manimuthar dam stood at 104.70 feet (maximum level is 118 feet) with an inflow of 271.32 cusecs and a discharge of 455 cusecs.

The rainfall recorded in Tirunelveli district ending at 6 a.m on Sunday is as follows (in mm): Ambasamudram 8.40, Cheranmahadevi 14.20, Papanasam 15, Palayamkottai 5.20, Tirunelveli 9, Manjolai 32, Kakkachi 40, Nalumukku 43 and Oothu 48.
